Cabaret Voltaire - Micro-Phonies

This is a great album released amidst Cold War and high unemployment around
the world. The album's theme and production conveys this with the Cabs usual sardonic
humour. It's very fitting that the album was released during 1984 being the time-stamp
of the George Orwell novel and all that. Musically, their sound became more settled with
the use of their new studio and equipment. This version contains all the extra tracks related to the period. Brilliant.

Kraftwerk - Showroom Dummies (Remix)

This is a 1981 remix of Showroom Dummies. It's about half the length of the album version
with extra electronic drums which gives it a tighter feel. This is a vinyl rip albeit a good one.

Yello - You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess

This album was a turning point for Yello. With a recently acquired Fairlight sampler and a Linn drum computer Boris Blank really went to town with his sountrack/songs which became their new template. Dieter Meier also created stories within the soundtrack, whilst using many vocal techniques to keep the listener surprised. Intelligent and really good fun.
This reissue includes extras also.

Visage - The Anvil

The Anvil was just released lately on Cherry Red records, after years of not being available
on cd, it finally arrived. The Ultravox influence was very strong on this one. At times it sounds like a continuation of Rage In Eden, partly due to Midge Ure and Billy Currie having a more prominent role. There are extra tracks included on this release, but some important tracks are sadly missing. I included Night Train single remix but it's a vinyl rip. Well here we go anyway.

Ultravox - Systems Of Romance

Remastered version of the 1978 classic. This was the beginning of the Ultravox relationship
with the legendary Krautrock producer Conny Plank, eventhough the Midge Ure years sounded
totally different. In places some of the songs are very like Foxx's later lp The Garden ,which included a track called Systems Of Romance. The extra track b-side Crossfade sounds like something from Metamatic which was to follow when Foxx went solo. Great stuff.

Simple Minds - Sons And Fascination/Sister Feelings Call

Simple Minds came into their own with this great album which is marginally better than New Gold Dream in my opinion. The band members played so tight and it is produced so well by Steve Hillage. It includes all the tracks which were excluded from the earlier print.

Sylvian/Sakamoto - Bamboo Houses/Music

Another couple of great tracks from around the period of Japan's big success(1982). You can hear the big Sakamoto influence running through it. The Prophet 5 synthesizer is very prominent throughout. These are the extended versions and are ripped from cd.

Gary Numan - Your Fascination (Single Edit)

Jesus, the image he is portraying on the sleeve is very sad don't you think, very Casino Royale.
I'm not a fan of Numan beyond the I, Assassin lp personally, but this track is cool and this mix is very rare. Cd rip.

Yazoo - Upstairs At Eric's 2008

This is the latest remaster of the classic 1982 lp. The tracks have been placed in the proper
running order too bar one. Vince Clarke used very little equipment and still achieved stunning
results.

The Human League - Only After Dark (Edit)

po
This is a rare version of this song from the Travelogue lp. It was only available as a limited
edition double-pack promotion for Empire State Human single during 1980. It's not a vinyl
rip.

Only After Dark (Edit):

Cabaret Voltaire - Drinking Gasoline

This is another excellent e.p. by Sheffield's finest Cabaret Voltaire. It was released during
1985 to rave reviews. The Cabs have been quoted as a huge influence on bands during the last
20 years.

Japan-Gentlemen Take Polaroids (Single Edit)

This is the single version of Polaroids which is very rare. It's not a vinyl rip. I will be posting a few more Sylvian/Japan edits in the near future.

John Foxx - Metamatic 2007

I hate to state the obvious, but you have to admit this is a brilliant album. Recorded on an 8-track recorder using a rhythm machine and small arsenal of synthesizers. Sometimes less is the more.
This is the latest remaster which includes b-sides and rare tracks.

Metamatic 2007:

Ryuichi Sakamoto - Warhead

Ryuichi Sakamoto released this during 1980 (again). It was the b-side of Riot In Lagos 12". This is an excellent track worthy of the electronic Hall Of Fame. It's only available from Japan as an import, so grab it just in case.

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Theme From The Invaders/Firecracker (Single Edit)

Another single from 1980 by Yellow Magic Orchestra. This is the hard to find single version
just in case you needed it for your collection. It's not a vinyl rip.

John Foxx - No-One Driving (Alternative Version)

This is an excellent version of the classic track from 1980. It is taken from the latest 'best of'
by John Foxx entitled 'Glimmer'.

Nash The Slash - Swing Shift

Canadian solo artist Nash The Slash released the Children Of The Night lp during 1980.
This is a version of the song from the lp which was given away as a flexidisc with British
magazine Smash Hits. This is the best version of the track in my opinion.

Thomas Leer - Private Plane

This is a great track from 1978 by Scottish experimentor Thomas Leer. It was recorded in his living room using limited instrumentation due to budgetary factors i presume. It was
one of the forerunners of the post-punk movement and still sounds great.
